Director of Education John Lustrea will present his research on Union medical care at the Battle of Seven Pines on the 160th anniversary of the battle. Also known as the Battle of Fair Oaks, reports from the surgeons who served there offer amazing detail about their actions. The deadliest battle in the Eastern Theater when it was fought, Seven Pines offered a massive test for the fledgling medical department. Tune in to the live stream to hear how they did. John Lustrea is the Director of Education and the Website Manager at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. He earned his Master’s degree in Public History from the University of South Carolina. Lustrea has previously worked at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park during the summers of 2013-2016.
