Ranger Cameron Mallow

 

Join us at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine on Monday, July 8 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM for a special event in conjunction with the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy. National Park Ranger Cameron Mallow will discuss the events of July 1864 that transpired between Jubal Early’s Confederate forces and the Federal forces after the battle.

 

Highlights will include the Second Battle of Kernstown, the burning of Chambersburg, and the Battle of Moorfield. Confederate General John McCausland was a major player during all three events and will be a focus of the talk.

The presentation is FREE. 

 

Cameron Mallow is from Hardy/Grant counties in West Virginia and now lives in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Shepherd University in 2018 with a BA American History degree in the study of the American Civil War and a minor degree in West Virginia History. In 2020, Cameron started working for the National Park Service at Gettysburg on the maintenance crew. In 2021, he did interpretation at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in 2022 he was interpreter at Fort Union Trading Post Historical Site, and in 2023 was at Fort McHenry for interpretation. Cameron is now interpretive ranger at Monocacy National Battlefield in Frederick, Maryland. Between NPS jobs, he works with children as a substitute teacher, volunteers at camps, and is a writer–with his first book now in editing.
