Historian Randy Krakauer will discuss Dr. Jonathan Letterman
Join us on September 17th at 11 AM at the Pry House Field Hospital Museum, for a special event on the 161st anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. Historian Randy Krakauer will discuss the life and career of Dr. Jonathan Letterman, Medical Director of the Army of the Potomac. Letterman is considered to be the “Father of Battlefield Medicine” and his ideas were first implemented at this battle from his headquarters here at the Pry House.

Dr. Randall Krakauer graduated Albany Medical College in 1972 and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He received training in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and in Rheumatology at the National Institutes of Health and Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and received an MBA from Rutgers. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology and Professor of Medicine at Seton Hall University Graduate School of Medicine. He is past chairman of the American College of Managed Care Medicine.
Dr. Krakauer has more than 35 years of experience in medicine and medical management, has held senior medical management positions in several major organizations. He is author of many publications on Medical Management, Advanced Care Management and Collaborative Medical Management and as Chief Medical Officer for Medicare was the clinical lead for Aetna’s Compassionate Care © program for Advanced Illness. Retired in 2015, he was responsible for medical management planning and implementation nationally for Aetna Medicare members since 2002.
