Director of Education John Lustrea will talk with Colby Lipscomb, Education Coordinator at Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site, about how new medical innovations were implemented at the 1865 battle. Lipscomb will also relate stories from surgeons and patients at the Harper House, which was the site of a field hospital after the fighting.
Colby Lipscomb is the Education Coordinator at Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site and has been in this role for three years. His specialties at Bentonville include Civil War medicine, civilian life, and the natural world. Previously, he has worked as a Park Ranger at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Research Assistant at the Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies. He has a Master of Arts in Public History from NC State and Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Carolina University. He is from Clayton, NC and is passionate about telling the stories of the history of culture and science in America through the lens of individual people.
