Clara Barton and the Missing Soldiers Office

August 20, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

Clara Barton is celebrated the world over for her selfless humanitarian work as the founder of the American Red Cross … but she was so much more.

Clara Barton MM Carousel

During the American Civil War, Barton was known as “the true heroine of the age” for her philanthropy and bravery, helping wounded soldiers. After the war, her service and sacrifice continued when she spearheaded the search for thousands of missing soldiers. Discover the incredible story of this astounding, complex woman, the work she did during the American Civil War and Reconstruction, and how she changed our world for the better.

Amelia Grabowski, the Education and Digital Outreach Specialist for the Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Office Museum, will share Clara Barton’s story. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage from Brown University, where she received the Master’s Award for Engaged Citizenship and Community Service.  Ms. Grabowski has previously worked for the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, the Bullock Texas State History Museum, humanities councils, and various community organizations.

Join us at the Pry House Field Hospital Museum on Sunday, August 20 at 3 PM for this “pay-what-you-please” presentation. Talk will take place in the Pry Barn.

This is a “pay-what-you-please” event. All proceeds go to support the Pry House Field Hospital Museum.
