Director of Interpretation Jake Wynn will have a conversation with Professor Katy Shively about her award winning book Nature’s Civil War: Common Soldiers and the Environment in 1862 Virginia. They will cover close connection between health and medicine and the natural environment during the 1862 Peninsula Campaign in Virginia. Kathryn Shively is an assistant professor of history at Virginia Commonwealth University and author of “Nature’s Civil War: Common Soldiers and the Environment in 1862 Virginia,” published by the University of North Carolina Press.
