Education Coordinator John Lustrea will have a conversation with Assistant Director of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College, Ashley Luskey. They will cover how civilians living on the Gettysburg Battlefield recovered from the most devastating battle in North American history. Some provided medical care, others lost everything, and some even made some money. Be sure to tune in to the Museum’s Facebook page for what is sure to be a fascinating conversation. During this FREE program, you’ll hear about different aspects of healthcare on the front lines and in hospitals during the most destructive conflict in our nation’s history that continues impact us today. Ashley Luskey is the Assistant Director of the Civil War Institute (CWI) at Gettysburg College. She is an active public historian with over 15 years of professional experience in interpretation, preservation, digital & oral history, archival work, & education. Prior to arriving at CWI, she spent 10 years working for the National Park Service, including 8 years at Richmond National Battlefield Park. Her articles have appeared on a variety of blogs, magazines, & scholarly journals.
