COVID-19 and closures won’t stop us from sharing the incredible lessons we can learn from studying medical care during the Civil War!
Join us on New Year’s Day at 5:00 PM on Facebook for a *pre-recorded* virtual program hosted by the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. You can tune in live by visiting facebook.com/civilwarmed/live at the scheduled time.
Director of Interpretation Jake Wynn will discuss the medical care administered in the chaotic battle that took place the New Year’s Day holiday in December 1862/January 1863 known as the Battle of Stones River or the Battle of Murfreesboro. The battle which took place in the heart of Tennessee, saw Union and Confederate forces suffer casualties in excess of 24,000. Many of those casualties suffered in the cold that plagued armies fighting winter campaigns. Learn how Civil War surgeons battled both bullets and the brutally cold weather.
