Director of Education John Lustrea will talk with historian James Gindlesperger about his latest book Bullets & Bandages: The Aid Stations and Field Hospitals at Gettysburg. Together they will talk about the research behind the book as well as spotlight several harrowing stories of soldiers and surgeons in the Civil War’s bloodiest battle.

James Gindlesperger is the author of several books about the Civil War: Escape from Libby Prison (1996), Seed Corn of the Confederacy (1997), and Fire on the Water (2005). His latest book is Bullets & Bandages: The Aid Stations and Field Hospitals at Gettysburg (2020). He and his wife also coauthored So You Think You Know Gettysburg? Vol 1 (2010) and Vol 2 (2014) and So You Think You Know Antietam? (2012), which were honored as Foreword Reviews’ Book of the Year finalists in the travel category. They live in Johnstown, PA.
