Spend an evening in Downtown Frederick with friends, history, and good spirits sponsored by the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.

Whiskey Soldiers

Join us for ‘Spirited History’ on Wednesday, October 18 at McClintock Distilling Company. Sip locally-crafted cocktails, take an exclusive tour of the distillery and hear dramatically-told stories from the historians of Frederick’s most iconic museum.

Formerly known as Cigar and Whiskey Night, this event is among the most cherished by supporters of the Museum. Spirited History offers the opportunity to try amazing whiskies where they are made and share an evening with history buffs with a passion for great local booze.

“Spirits played a vital role in medical care during the Civil War,” says Program Coordinator Jake Wynn. “Whiskey especially had a place in nearly every doctor’s kit. This event offers the opportunity to experience history through taste, and to learn more about the importance of alcohol to Americans living during our nation’s bloodiest conflict.”

McClintock Distilling Company uses age-old techniques combined with organic, sustainable ingredients to create incredible spirits right in the heart of Downtown Frederick. Named for Frederick inventor McClintock Young, this distillery strives to give back to the community it calls home.

A $50 ticket gets you a distillery tour, historically inspired cocktails, a selection of NMCWM historians’ favorite Civil War stories, tastings, a complimentary cigar, and more. All proceeds go toward the Education Department at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. Support our innovative programming while sipping a beverage inspired by the heroes of Civil War medicine.
Raise a toast to the surgeons and medical personnel who saved lives on and off the battlefield during the Civil War. The event is October 18 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
