Virtual Program – An Amputation at Spotsylvania Court House

Director of Interpretation Jake Wynn will highlight the story of one Union officer’s amputation during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House on May 10, 1864. In this 30 minute program, Wynn will discuss the medical history of Captain Edwin Severn of the 96th Pennsylvania, highlight the medical career of the surgeon who operated on him, and follow their paths in the years after the Civil War.
Jake Wynn is the Director of Interpretation at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. He also writes independently at the Wynning History blog.
