As the summer begins to heat up, join National Museum of Civil War Medicine staff on Friday, June 16 at 12:00 PM Eastern on Facebook for a livestream. You can tune in by visiting facebook.com/CivilWarMed at the scheduled time.
Museum staff members Jacob Davis and Tracey McIntire will be mixing up a batch of switchel or haymaker’s punch, a popular Civil War remedy for heatstroke, and discussing how soldiers dealt with intense heat during the march and on the battlefield.
