Hear the stories of the medical staff stationed at Point Lookout.
Hammond Hospital was established at Point Lookout in November 1862. Casualties resulting from the Peninsula Campaign and the over 12,000 from the Battle of Fredericksburg drove home the desperate need for more hospital space. The staff assembled at Point Lookout to deal with this wave of crushed humanity was a microcosm of A-type personalities that vied for authority: doctors, nurses, and Daughters of Charity were all thrust together in one mix. Come to hear their stories and how they all got along . . . or did they?
This event will also be live streamed on our Facebook page.
