Come see demonstrations of the wet plate process that was used during the Civil War
As part of Civil War Photography Weekend, the National Museum of Civil War Medicine is happy to host photographer John Milleker. On Sunday, June 2 at 12PM and 2PM, Milleker will be presenting on the History of Photography with an emphasis on the chemistry of the processes that lead to Wet Plate Collodion and beyond. Milleker will also be offering tintype portrait sittings made with the same chemistry as during the Civil War.
Tintype sittings before and after presentations are available for everyone who would like one for an additional fee. Tintypes made will be available to take home about 90 minutes after your portrait sitting, last portrait at 4pm.
John Milleker is a full-time professional photographer, instructor & historian of photography from the early 1800’s to cutting edge digital. He hosts the “Under a Red Glow” photography podcast dedicated to the art and history of photography that is available on all of the major podcast platforms.
